So I'm on my way to start my bakery. But I need a space. I've added a donate button for anyone who would like to help the bakery fund!!
All donations will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you in advance for all the contributions :)

Prices
Hey everyone,
I've been spending the better part of this past week trying to figure out my prices. They were not at an appropriate level to cover my cost.
For those who have ordered before, there may be a difference in the prices of things you order from now on. But I hope the prices are still acceptable.
Trying to save up to get a building, anyone interested in investing in a small start up bakery, let me know :)

Girlfriends Reunited
Went to a luncheon today. Turned out really nice. Thank you Tonya. It was great to get a chance to meet all the ladies that came and to network with them.
I hope they all enjoyed the spread of desserts I brought to showcase my talents and some of the things I can do.

S'mores Pie
So today I attempted to create a s'mores pie.
Graham cracker crust
Chocolate pudding
Melted marshmallows burnt with a torch
Its an interesting experiment. Trying to figure out the good and bad about it in order to perfect it.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.
Also there is the possibility to make it more like a lasagna with layers of graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows
I'll keep you updated on the progress of this project. And hopefully it will end in a new tasty treat to be available for ordering.

New Name...
Hey everyone.
I have decided to go ahead and change the bakery name to :
Little Piggy's Pastry Palace
"where its always ok to eat like a little piggy!"
I've got a cute logo and have stickers and cards all made up.
I've also been working on filing my paperwork to get it registered for all its business licences. I need to find a space to work out of. If any of you know any kitchen space for rent in an existing place, or a small cheap place for lease that I can turn into my own kitchen space, that information would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully if I can get this all taken care of, I can start providing you all with more and more goodies :)
Stay posted for any updates

Marketing
So I am trying to get my name out there. I've been giving away cookies with my card in order to gain new possible customers.
If you are on this site because of those cookies, welcome. Feel free to ask about anything you are interested in. I can make cookies, cakes, pastries, chocolates, desserts, breads and pies. Let me know what you want :)
I want to thank all those who are helping me to spread my name out and about. THANK YOU.
If giving away samples proves to be beneficial look for more to come in the future.

Busy Week
So I have had a very BUSY week.
I went in for for a couple of days to provide extra help at the bakery I used to work. I was given the task of creating a "dummy" cake. (A "dummy" cake is a cake for display only. The base which is the cake that you eat is made of something inedible so it will last longer, but all the decoration is real and can be duplicated on a real cake) I got the opportunity to design and decorate the entire thing myself. I was very proud of it. :)
This done for Sugarplum Visions
Also, I made a simple cake for the learning center my mother works for. They were celebrating Black History Month and featured me as a young black entrepreneur. That was exciting and very unexpected.
To end the week off right, I went out for a girlfriend's birthday. She brought a very cool cake with her. Everyone stopped by the table to ask how they could get a cool cake like that, all my friends told everyone to call me! We decided it may be a good idea to take cakes to places and just let them speak for themselves to get business. :) so look forward to cakes showing up in the future at some of the hot spots around town!

Hello!
Hello.
My name is Yolanda. I have an Associates Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. I am currently attending school to get a degree in Business Management.
I am trying to start my own bakery because I love to bake and make goodies for people. This blog is to try and get my name out there and hopefully be able to get a good business started.
So for this first blog I'll let you all know about me :)
The very first time I cooked anything was in kindergarten. Our class was reading Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham. Our teacher helped us make green eggs. I was so excited that on Mother's Day, which was a week after, I made them for my mom. LOL Of course like a good mom she said she loved it at the time, but really, who wants to eat bright green food that's NOT supposed to green?
Growing up in our house, both my mom and dad cooked all the time. From a young age, I started helping out in the kitchen. By high school I was in charge of dessert for holiday meals. My junior year I chose to start taking culinary classes and it was then that I realized this was my life!! I have done everything from that point to reach my goal of owning my own bakery.
So this is just another step to that goal. Look forward to posts and pictures of what I'm doing to reach that goal.
And if you need a sweet fix before then and are near the greater Atlanta area, get in contact with me at emptypieshell@hotmail.com.
Bye for now :)
